{"id":82,"date":"2009-04-26T22:02:48","date_gmt":"2009-04-27T04:02:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sydnieann.com\/?p=82"},"modified":"2009-04-26T22:02:48","modified_gmt":"2009-04-27T04:02:48","slug":"i-wanna-talk-about-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sydnieann.com\/?p=82","title":{"rendered":"I wanna talk about me&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was reading an article the other day about blogging (in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toastmasters.org\/\">Toastmasters<\/a> magazine, by Lin Grensing-Pophal), and how to get started, and how to have a good blog.\u00a0 As it turns out, I&#8217;m a BAD blogger.<\/p>\n<p>Under tips for bloggers?\u00a0 Number 1 is &#8220;Write regularly.&#8221;\u00a0 I think we can all agree I&#8217;ve been a miserable failure at that.\u00a0 Although, it could be argued that every two months is &#8220;regularly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another tip is &#8220;Remember that anyone can read it.&#8221;\u00a0 I&#8217;m doing this pretty much right.\u00a0 This is why I don&#8217;t (generally) talk about work or people who make me mad.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t want to be one of those news stories, &#8220;Blogger gets fired for blogging about work&#8221;.\u00a0 It would probably make me much more prolific though.\u00a0 (Exactly what we all need, right?\u00a0 Me to be MORE wordy?!)<\/p>\n<p>Under getting started, I should be able to answer yes to the questions following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you have something to say?\u00a0 Well, yes!\u00a0 Lots!!!<\/li>\n<li>Does anyone care?\u00a0 Um&#8230; only the people who have to&#8230; (and I LOVE you people!!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I should also have a theme to the blog.\u00a0 I suppose my theme is&#8230; ME!\u00a0 This theme probably goes against the &#8220;Do not use your blog as a self-promotional or advertising tool.&#8221;\u00a0 ME, ME, ME!\u00a0 And my dogs, my intermittent craftiness, and other random stuff about ME.<\/p>\n<p>Another guideline is to be conscientious about spelling and grammar.\u00a0 I try to make sure I spell good (tee hee!), but as far as grammar, I think I try to write in a more &#8220;conversational&#8221; style.\u00a0 When I write stuff at work or for formal communications, I pay much closer attention to grammar and structure &#8211; in large part because I&#8217;m SO critical when I get a &#8220;professional&#8221;\u00a0email from someone &#8211; someone that should ABSOLUTELY know better &#8211; that looks like they didn&#8217;t complete the second grade.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe someday I&#8217;ll be more professional, and start up my own &#8220;professional&#8221; website and blog.\u00a0 For now, this is it, in all of my self-centeredness, self-deprecation, and focus on&#8230; yep, myself!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was reading an article the other day about blogging (in Toastmasters magazine, by Lin Grensing-Pophal), and how to get started, and how to have a good blog.\u00a0 As it turns out, I&#8217;m a BAD blogger.
