And some pictures!\u00a0 Here is a slide show of our trip to Prague<\/a> in November.\u00a0 I wanted to wait until I got the pictures semi-organized to post about the trip, and I wanted to post about the trip before I posted a bunch of my other random thoughts, and now I have finally gotten through the pictures.\u00a0 It may look to you, with over 120 pictures, that I did not actually do any sort of editing or organizing.\u00a0 BUT \u2013 I did!\u00a0 This is pared down from over 400 pictures \u2013 gotta love digital, right?\u00a0 No worries about taking picture after picture after picture after picture.<\/p>\n

So, Prague was awesome!\u00a0 I got to go for free, to speak at a work-related conference, and Tina went along with me.\u00a0 The speaking went pretty well\u2026 it was a bit more adventurous than the other conferences I\u2019ve done \u2013 most of the audience was great, but 2 guys were kind of\u2026 confrontational!\u00a0 It was crazy!\u00a0 But I made it through and went on to do some sight-seeing.<\/p>\n

Some of the coolest things we saw were pretty much accidental \u2013 mostly when we were looking for bead shops that we\u2019d found online.\u00a0 One was a lovely little outdoor Christmas market where we got some tasty treats and cute souvenirs.\u00a0 Another was in a different area of town\u2026 we got out of the metro station, and it looked like there was going to be a big street festival \u2013 a band was there, the street was blocked off, lots of activity.\u00a0 We turned the corner, and there was a huge crowd of people, yelling and carrying signs.\u00a0 There were news cameras and lots of police too!\u00a0 Being that the signs were all in Czech, we couldn\u2019t tell what was going on.\u00a0 I googled from my phone (I still had it at that point!) and figured out we were there for a reenactment and celebration of the student protest that kicked off the Velvet Revolution<\/a>!\u00a0 Big day for the Czech Republic!\u00a0 Er\u2026 I guess at that point, it was a big day for Czechoslovakia.<\/p>\n

We also got to see a police station.\u00a0 I got pickpocketed on the metro \u2013 jerks took my phone and my wallet (only cards \u2013 no cash) \u2013 so I filed a police report in case I ever need it.<\/p>\n

There are lots of pictures from Prague Castle<\/a> and from Vy\u0161ehrad<\/a>.\u00a0 I won\u2019t go into history lessons here (that\u2019s why we have Google and Wikipedia!), but these were some of my favorite places.\u00a0 The castle is amazing \u2013 and I was absolutely blown away by St. Vitus\u2019s Cathedral there.\u00a0 So beautiful!\u00a0 Our hotel and the conference center were right at the Vy\u0161ehrad metro station, and one of my guidebooks listed a walking tour of the area that looked a little interesting, so we took part of a day to do that.\u00a0 It was lovely \u2013 gorgeous views of the rest of the city, beautiful church, amazing cemetery\u2026 While we were definitely not the only tourists there, it seemed like a world away from the hustle and bustle of convention centers and major tourist attractions.\u00a0 The cemetery was cool (does that sound disrespectful or sacrilege or anything to say that??) \u2013 we saw where Dvorak is buried, and I recognized lots of old Rock Springs names, which I thought was just fascinating!<\/p>\n
