{"id":37,"date":"2006-06-13T23:26:40","date_gmt":"2006-06-14T05:26:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sydnieann.com\/?p=37"},"modified":"2006-06-13T23:27:34","modified_gmt":"2006-06-14T05:27:34","slug":"nothing-terribly-exciting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sydnieann.com\/?p=37","title":{"rendered":"Nothing Terribly Exciting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been very bad at updating this little blog!!\u00c2\u00a0 Sometimes, it&#8217;s really just for lack of anything remotely interesting to say.\u00c2\u00a0 I have a list of blogs I read on a regular basis, and there are so many people that are writing interesting stuff.\u00c2\u00a0 And they all seem to really be experts at something.\u00c2\u00a0 I think that might be part of my problem &#8211; I know a little bit about a lot of different subjects, but I&#8217;m not an expert at any of them.\u00c2\u00a0 Jack of all trades, master of none, right?<\/p>\n<p>What I&#8217;ve been up to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work &#8211; I spent the entire day today working on this problem, developing what I thought was going to be a terrific solution to a problem.\u00c2\u00a0 Really &#8211; it was\u00c2\u00a0such\u00c2\u00a0a great idea in my head.\u00c2\u00a0 After I got all the development done and started testing it, I realized that it definitely fixed the problem that we were trying to fix.\u00c2\u00a0 However, it would have completely crippled another process.\u00c2\u00a0 So &#8211; at around 5:15, it was back to the drawing board &#8211; literally.\u00c2\u00a0 My gigantic whiteboard is no longer full of fun random pictures and sayings &#8211; I actually used it for work today, and mapped out my next &#8220;great&#8221; idea.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s too bad they don&#8217;t make those fun <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dickblick.com\/zz212\/15\/\" target=\"_blank\">smelly markers<\/a> for whiteboards.\u00c2\u00a0 I LOVE those things!\u00c2\u00a0 The bonus\u00c2\u00a0of all this failed development work is that I <em>think <\/em>I came up with something that will work better for the users anyway.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a lot more initial work for me, but&#8230; it&#8217;s a learning experience!\u00c2\u00a0 Wish me luck!\u00c2\u00a0 If it doesn&#8217;t work, you&#8217;ll probably hear the screams and keyboard-banging from wherever you are.<\/li>\n<li>Golf &#8211; I took the lessons, and I keep trying to play.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m so terribly inconsistent.\u00c2\u00a0 One day I&#8217;m incredibly horrible, then the next day I&#8217;m just a little bit awful, and the next day &#8211; incredibly horrible again.\u00c2\u00a0 I think my new clubs are broken.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m actually playing in a tournament (I know!!!\u00c2\u00a0 How ridiculous!!) in a couple of weeks.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a work tournament they do every year (best ball, thank goodness!), and I&#8217;ve finally gotten up the nerve to join in on the fun.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to make such an ass of myself.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope my team doesn&#8217;t end up hating me.<\/li>\n<li>Beads &#8211; I&#8217;ve been on a little beading &#8220;binge&#8221; lately &#8211; I&#8217;ve been quite prolific over the last few days!\u00c2\u00a0 A while ago, a friend sent me a link to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkgeek.com\/brain\/whereisit.cgi?t=resistor&#038;cpg=29H\" target=\"_blank\">these<\/a>, and I finally tried making my own versions over the weekend.\u00c2\u00a0 You should have seen the Radio Shack guy&#8217;s face when I asked for resistors in different colors, and told him I didn&#8217;t really care about the function of them &#8211;
